The IRS has recently announced that the millions of unprocessed tax returns that had accumulated since the COVID-19 Pandemic have officially been cleared. The $80 billion in IRS funding helped in these efforts by enabling the IRS to purchase new scanning technology to digitize the data and process the returns more quickly.
The IRS additionally has announced that certain collections notices which were paused last year will gradually resume. A start date for this has not yet been announced.
