Hey Louisiana – have you heard? After stating that the State will need tax reform in order to avoid a $1 billion deficit over the next 4 years, Governor Jeff Landry has just announced a series of tax reform proposals at the State Capitol on Tuesday, October 1, 2024.
While several of these proposals should be heard in the legislature’s upcoming special session, others are going to require voter approval.
These tax reform measures will accompany budget cuts put into place under Governor Landry’s administration. Governor Landry states that he is hoping to avoid cuts for education and healthcare but wants to be more efficient with government spending. He says he sees the state’s population decline as an existential problem.
