ARE YOU A BRAVE PERSON?

Are you a brave person? This may seem like an odd question for me to ask, but it makes a huge difference on whether you're going to succeed with your IRS problems. The IRS may be slow at times, but that doesn't mean that they let things fall through the cracks.

When they do finally catch up with you, they will expect to be paid in full, with penalties and interest added in. And they are fully prepared and willing to use every collection method in the book to get their money once they've figured out that you owe them, including:

  • Liens
  • Wage Garnishment
  • Seizure of bank accounts
  • Seizure (and auctioning off) personal property
  • Imprisonment

"....something else is more important than fear." When you have the courage to stand up and face your problem, you have made the judgment that something else is more important than fear.

It Won't Be Pleasant – But Consider the Alternative. Depending on your situation, chances are you're still going to end up having to pay something, either through an Installment plan, Offer-In-Compromise, or a Partial Payment Installment Plan.

You may be declared non-collectible (for now), and have your situation reviewed at a later date.

However, at a later date, you may have to start paying the tax. Bankruptcy may be an option for you, but I think we all know that bankruptcy certainly has its share of downsides.

Working Through an Attorney Will Improve Your Options. Working with a qualified tax attorney will increase the chance that you'll be able to arrange a payment plan with the IRS that favors you and your lifestyle. "Going it alone" against the IRS will leave you in the hands of very crafty tax collectors who have one objective – to get as much money out of you as possible...in the shortest time possible. Don't risk it.
